Firungi (or ‘Foreigner’ in Hindi) is a Brooklyn-based global electronic, hip hop and r&b artist. With roots in Seattle, LA, London, and Mumbai, he has spent a lifetime experiencing and understanding different cultures.
Coming from a family of musicians and DJs, Firungi has been producing and performing for over 15 years. His solo endeavors are geared towards the eclectic listener: drawing sonics from house, hip hop, r&b, trance, soul, trap, as well as African & Indian rhythms – it’s difficult to place nor predict Firungi’s sound, but everyone can be immersed into it.
In 2021, he started the ‘Firungi Funk’ event series as a showcase of international club and dance music in his hometown of Seattle, which has since blossomed into a community for all walks of life. The series has now expanded to New York, with plans for further domestic and international growth in the near future.
In his latest track ‘Maktoub Aleina,’ Firungi takes a revered classic by the legendary Hamid Al Shaeri and transforms it for the dancefloor – bellowing basslines and beefy drums over Hamid’s poetic vocals… one listen and it’s hard not to start humming or dancing along to it.
