S.I.L. began in 2018 as a duo with long-time college friends Silvana Mass (Vocals) and Justin Marshall (Guitars/Keyboards). Backed by Nick Melachenko (Bass) and Nick Law (Drums/Vocals), the four sought to create music without genre limitations or modern tropes. The group combined their diverse musical backgrounds and influences into their first album – “Sunshowers” in April 2020.

The 2020 release featured genre-defying tracks like “Fresh” and “The Only One” – playfully disco and rock-tinged, while “Don’t Let Go” and “Hideaway” delivered melancholic, emotional punches fusing together soul and R&B feels. For S.I.L., music is a vehicle for self expression and reflection; and sometimes it’s just the four f***ing around!
