Orlando-based duo Silvana Mass (vocals) and Justin Marshall (guitar/keyboards) are best known as S.I.L., an emerging alternative rock group whose defiance of musical genres results in a playful, experimental sound that blends pop, soul, rock and R&B.
In April 2020, S.I.L. released their soulful, rock-tinged debut album ‘Sunshowers’. Featuring an array of magnetic, heartfelt and genre-blurring tracks — from the R&B-leaning ’Hideaway’ to the funky disco influences in ‘Fresh’ — S.I.L.’s vibrant debut album proves the duo’s ability to distill their diverse musical tastes and individual influences into one unified, dynamic and expressive sound.
Silvana credits the eclectic taste of her parents, who exposed her to everything from Motown and Latin to soul and ‘80s glam rock, and her older sister’s love of playing R&B as a teenager, as helping influence her artistry and vocal style. Whilst Justin lists iconic guitarists like Wes Montgomery, Jimmy Page, Lindsay Buckingham, Dickey Betts, and David Gilmour as his major creative influences.
S.I.L. began recording their first song at Full Sail University in central Florida in 2018, backed by fellow college friends Nick Melachenko (bass) and Nick Law (drums/backing vocals) — and now, one album later, the rest is history
